In a world where peace and prosperity live throughout, one man seeks to become a member of SeeD, an elite military regiment where only the best can go. To become a member of SeeD, a person must be fully dedicated and persistent to the training they are taught at Balamb Garden. Afterwards, only those who complete the final examination are allowed to pass. This man, Squall Leonhart, longed for the day when he could finally reach that rank.
The day arrives, but with the happiness that ensues, comes a task which could thrust the fate of the world in the hands of one man...

On that night, the newly made recruits gather at a dinner party as a means of celebration. It is here that the lone wolf Squall encounters the beautiful, warm-hearted Rinoa. The two share a dance together and from then springs the first blossoms of love. From their they go their seperate ways. However, destiny beckons for them to meet again...

Later on, Squall runs into Rinoa once more, this time under different circumstances. Rinoa is the leader of a rebel group known as the Forest Owls. The Forest Owls, are allied with SeeD and are fighting against a neighbouring nation known as Galbadia. However, thus far they have not been to successful in their missions, and it seems as though Galbadia has the upper hand.

The real trouble though, begins when Galbadia takes over a communications tower located in the town of Dollet, and wages war against the rest of the world. This calls Squall and the rest of SeeD into action. They must stop Galbadia before its to late. However, Galbadia have an unlikely ally in the form of Edea.

Edea is an ancient and powerful sorceress, whose magical powers earn her both worship and fear among those around her. She seems to be behind the actions of Galbadia, and so it is up to Squall to settle the dispute between the nations and to try and find out what the purpose of the disturbance is.

However, the struggle Squall must go through in order to complete his task is nothing compared to the struggles he must face within himself. The appearance of Rinoa has ignited emotions within him that he is not willing, or ready to contend with. The world seems to be collapsing at his feet and through all of this, Squall must keep both his sanity and emotions intact.

Only time will tell what the future holds instore...for both the world, and for Squall. One thing is certain though; Squall will never be the same man again.
